PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - One person had to be air lifted to an area hospital after a crash involving a school bus in Perry County early Friday morning.

New Augusta Fire Chief Scott Extine said the crash happened at the intersection of State Route 29 and Old Augusta Road around 6:20 a.m. when a Ford F-150 pickup and bus collided, sending the bus off the roadway.

No students were on board the bus when the crash happened, according to Extine.

Extine said the driver of the truck was air lifted to Forrest General Hospital. The bus driver was taken to a hospital by private vehicle for examination.

Mississippi Highway Patrol, Perry County Sheriff’s deputies, the New Augusta Fire Department and Perry County EMA responded to the crash.
