HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - What do you do with 20,000 pounds of potatoes? Well, if you’re Christian Services in Hattiesburg, you pass that blessing on to others.

The charitable organization received an anonymous donation from one of its vendors. The group spent most of Friday giving the potatoes to the public for free.

Jim Prout, President of Christian Services, said that they wanted to use the gift to help others. For those who were unable to pick up the free potatoes Friday, you’ll have another opportunity on Monday.

“The only thing I ask is that you show up and that you let us bless you,” Prout said. “There’s no application, no arrangements that need to be made. I know that God gives these kinds of blessings for us to spread out, and you just need to be here to receive.”

Christian Services is located on East 2nd Street in Hattiesburg. Volunteers will be on hand to load your bag of potatoes for you.
