JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Jones County Board of Supervisors voted to approve updates to the voter district map on Tuesday.
Circuit Clerk Concetta Brooks said voting districts and polls are not changing, just the physical map.
“Nothing is changing as far as where someone votes,” said Brooks. “It’s strictly we’re changing the picture of the map itself to show the boundaries of where individuals will vote.”
Brooks said the current map is outdated based prior to the 2010 census of Jones County.
“Our election system, as far as who puts people in the precinct of where they vote, seems to be correct, but what I can physically show someone on the map is not matching where I tell them to go vote,” said Brooks.
She said the finalized map should be available for the public to view by early March.
