First Alert: Rainy Wednesday ahead

PINE BELT (WDAM) - Passing drizzle and light showers under a cloudy sky will be the name of the game Tuesday afternoon and evening. There may be some heavier showers and even some rumbles of thunder this evening, but severe weather isn’t expected.

Wednesday, the clouds will stick around with a chance for showers and storms starting as early as 9 a.m. and lingering through about 7 p.m. in the evening. Chance for rain is above 80 percent. Temperatures will be hovering around the 70 degree mark from about 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

There is the chance for a severe storm or two, but the threat looks to be pretty low. The timeline for severe weather will be between about 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The main concern will be for heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty wind and small hail. While a tornado can’t be ruled out,t he threat is on the low end of the scale.

Thursday will be a drier day, but may still feature off-and-on showers and non-severe thunderstorms. Highs will be around 70, again. The chance for rain is around 40 percent.

Friday and into Saturday we get another push of tropical air. That will bump temperatures into the mid to upper 70s. Rain chances around 40 percent.
