PINE BELT (WDAM) - Every year, we rely on support from the community, our amazing volunteers and generous donors that help us make a difference in peoples' lives. We do this together!

We are The Salvation Army and we are only as successful as the community in which we serve. We consider it a blessing to have served South Mississippi since 1907.

With your support, we were up this year in our kettle income by 20 percent and our volunteer participation was up by more than 20 percent as well. Well done, Pine Belt, and thank you!

Because of your generosity this Christmas season, lives were changed, and we want you to know what a difference you made this season.

This Christmas, 2,418 individuals were assisted, and more than 9,674 gifts were given out to local children. That's a lot of presents! That's a lot of shopping!

We also visited local nursing homes and correctional facilities 78 times in December, and then we distributed a total of 4,814 gifts to residents in 23 of those institutions in the seven counties we serve! Now, that's a lot of socks and blankets!

Nearly 350 families were given food boxes in the month of December, as well as clothing vouchers, rent, utility and prescription assistance.

Without you, standing at a red kettle and ringing that bell. Without you, dropping that loose change in as you walk by.

Without you, adopting and angel from the tree. Without you sitting for a few hours at the tree.

Without you, organizing a toy drive at your school. Without you organizing a food drive at your church.

Without you, we cannot do what we do!

Thank you, for giving hope, giving help and bringing wholeness to those who needed it the most.

You helped us in our mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination, so, thank you!

Thank you to all of you who helped make this season a success in helping us do the most good.

God Bless you!
