LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -A “Help Wanted” sign was put out at the Laurel School District administrative offices for a few hours Saturday morning, as the district hosted a job fair.
School superintendent Toy Watts said the district is looking for qualified teachers, as well as bus drivers and custodians.
she said incentives offered by the Mississippi Department of Education are helping to bring in qualified applicants.
“We’re also making sure that everyone is aware of the incentives for working in a critical shortage area,” Watts said. “$1,000 to relocate, up to $6,000 on the purchase of a home in our area, and student loans being repaid.”
Watts said the district will likely host two job fairs each year.
