HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -The University of Southern Mississippi and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi are hosting a big fitness event for children this Saturday.
A Kid’s One-Mile Fun Run is part of the “Get Ready to Run” program.
It teaches children about proper exercise habits and nutrition.
600 children from 28 different schools across the Pine Belt are expected to participate.
And one school could win big money during the event.
“The Kids One-Mile Fun Run will start and end here at Spirit Park," said Eugenia King, school coordinator for the “Get Ready to Run” program. “The school that has the most kids to cross the finish line, will win $2,000 for their P.E. program.”
Currently, more than 70,000 children across the state are participating in the “Get Ready to Run” program.
