HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Saturday was the second day of the 192nd annual Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. The three-day event is being held at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg.
The day consisted of business meetings with reports from the many different entities within the church. New officers were also elected.
Everyone is encouraged to attend Sunday morning’s closing service at 10 a.m. It is open to the public.
"It's really an Episcopal service at its finest, with great music and hopefully good preaching. I'm the preacher, so please come and check that out as well,” said Brian Seage, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. “It's a lot of fun and good fellowship and worship and a wonderful opportunity to give thanks to God.”
More than 600 people are expected to attend the council this weekend.
