HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - University of Southern Mississippi Jay Hopson is changing up his coaching staff after a 2018 season that saw the Golden Eagles sitting home during the postseason.
Hopson confirmed Thursday night that offensive line coach Erik Losey and head strength and conditioning coach SaJason Finley had been relieved of their duties with the Golden Eagles.
Losey had been with USM for the past two seasons, while Finley was in his fourth with the program.
USM finished 6-5 in 2018, the third consecutive winning season in Hopson’s three-year tenure.
But the Golden Eagles did not receive a postseason invitation for the first time in four years and ranked 13th in Conference USA in rushing, 10th in third-down conversions and ninth in total offense.
