HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Mississippi state Sen. Billy Hudson will not be seeking re-election. He made the announcement at the Forrest County Board of Supervisors meeting on Oct. 1. For the past three terms, Hudson has occupied district 45 seat, which serves Forrest and Perry counties.
“The people of Forrest and Perry County have been good to me and have allowed me to serve three terms. I’ve got one more session to go. I feel it is necessary or important to do that (announcement) early so that if people are looking at that seat that they can make their plans and that it wouldn’t appear that they were running against me,” said Hudson.
His seat will not be filled until November 2019. Hudson has been a member of the senate 11 years and has one more year left in his role as senator.
