Anonymous person donates $6 million to Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Officials invited reporters from around the Pine Belt to the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi Tuesday morning for what they called "a huge announcement."

President Martha Saunders revealed Tuesday a person had anonymously donated $6 million to the university.

The money represents the largest cash donation in the history of the university - $5 million of which will be used for student scholarships.

The check was revealed on the steps of the Thad Cochran Center in front of a large crowd of faculty, staff and students.
