Ellisville State School employee convicted of abuse

ELLISVILLE, Miss (WDAM) - An employee at a state-funded mental retardation facility was convicted of abuse towards one of the residents Monday.

Gary Hardy, transportation director at Ellisville State School, is charged with throwing a stapler that hit one of the residents at the school.

Hardy, an employee at the facility for 23 years, was convicted on one count of misdemeanor abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Jones County Justice Court Judge Howell Beach ordered Hardy to pay a fine of $255 plus court costs.
