HATTIESBURG, Miss (WDAM) - Three convicted murderers from the pinebelt appealed their convictions this week.John Christopher Blakeney was convicted in 2007 of killing his wife's grandparents. He was sentenced to life. The victims were stunned with a taser gun, strangled, and then driven to Wayne County where their car was set on fire. Blakeney had claimed he was in Louisiana at the time of the murders. His wife Wanda also received two life sentences, but she is not part of the appeal.
Desmond Keys is appealing his 2007 conviction for the murder of 5-year-old Mariyanna Tucker. Keys was convicted of firing a gun into the apartments where Tucker lived, killing the girl while she slept.
Rronald Husband is appealing his 2008 conviction for killing two Wiggins policemen. Odell Fite and Brandon Breland were shot to death while responding to a domestic dispute. Husband was sentenced to two life terms.
