Lamar County no longer part of SEMAAD February 19, 2009 at 3:45 PM CST - Updated July 3 at 11:20 AM LAMAR COUNTY, MISS (WDAM) - After months of study, the Lamar County supervisors made it official today (Thursday) they will no longer be apart of the Southeast Mississippi Air Ambulance District. Lamar County is the first county in the 10-county district to withdraw its funding to the air ambulance service. Lamar County's share was just over $200,000 dollars a year. County officials have complained the Rescue 7 helicopter serving the district was down for maintenance too often. Baptist Life Flight will now serve as the area's primary air ambulance service.
