HPD finds 1,700 lbs. of pot in semi-truck

Two California men are in jail in Hattiesburg, facing drug charges after police allegedly discovered 1,700 pounds of marijuana hidden in their tractor trailer truck.  Hattiesburg Police say 53-year-old Andy Lopez and 33-year-old Ricky Lopez, both of Nuevo, California, are each charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

They were arrested on Interstate-59 last night by officers after their 18-wheel truck was pulled over for a routine traffic violation.  During the stop, officers say they found the pot in the trailer portion of the rig.

They say the drugs have a street value of 2 million dollars.
