Brett Favre retiring from Jets

According to ESPN, Brett Favre has instructed his agent to inform the New York Jets he plans to retire.

The ESPN Web site is reporting the phone call has already been made, but the Jets has not yet released an official statement.

Favre said he does not plan to hold a press conference to mark the departure as he did 11 months ago with Green Bay.

WDAM's Mitchell Williams is working on the story, and we will have more on the Web and on our regular broadcasts as the story develops.
