Hattiesburg police seize $700,000 worth of marijuana

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The travel plans of a Florida man driving through the Hub City came to a halt Wednesday, and now the man is in jail on drug charges.

David Mays, 55, was pulled over along I-59, and as officer Chris Fagan began questioning him, suspicions arose.

After searching the car, Fagan discovered about a 100 pounds of marijuana in a secret compartment.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be worth about $700,000.

Police seized both the drugs and the vehicle.
