National Guard says goodbye to former commander

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi National Guard officially said farewell and good luck Saturday to a former top commander and head of Camp Shelby who retired in December.

Dozens of fellow National Guard commanders and friends honored retired Major General Ike Pylant with a retirement banquet at the Hattiesburg Country Club.

Pylant served as assistant army adjutant general for four years. Before that, he commanded Camp Shelby for seven years.

Pylant spent 42 years in the Mississippi National Guard, joining in July of 1966.
