Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart says an autopsy has determined three men whose bodies were in a car that had ended up in a creek all died of accidental drowning.
Killed in the Jan. 16 accident were Timothy Young, 23, Justin Middlebrook, 22, and Isaiah Tucker, 20, all of Lawrence County.
Their bodies were recovered Tuesday.
Stuart says while a toxicology report won't be available for several days, the ruling of accidental drowning will stand.
Authorities say the car clipped a guard rail on Mississippi Highway 27 and went down an embankment into the creek.
Relatives looking for the men saw the damaged guardrail, then saw a wheel sticking out of the creek. The rest of the vehicle was submerged.
Traffic will be delayed Wednesday as MDOT crews work to repair a guardrail on I-59.
