Contractor may lose his license, faces fines

A Pine Belt home contractor may soon lose his license and be fined the maximum amount after allegations of misconduct.

Wednesday morning, the Residential Standing Committee of the Mississippi State Board of Contractors, heard a case concerning Robert Neill of Neill Properties. Three complaints were filed against Neill alleging misconduct.

The committee recommended Neill be fined $15,000 and have his state license revoked.

Neill did not appear at the hearing, and the recommendations will be heard by the board this week. The board also recommended the findings be handed over to the Attorney General's Office.

Neil, according to his Web site, is behind several residential subdivisions in Hattiesburg and Laurel, including Chapel Hill, Madison Place and Windmere.
