Pine Belt police arrest 10 in drug raids

Marion and Jones County authorities executed several drug raids this week.

Eight people have been arrested in a drug raid in Marion County when the sheriff's department and the Pearl River Basin Narcotics Task Force made the arrests after a 6-month-operation.

Sheriff Berkley Hall said this operation was initiated to remove some of the long-time drug dealers in the county.

B.J. Lampton was charged with two counts of the sale of a controlled substance. Bobby Dillon, Charles Morgan, Jackie Holmes, Jessica Dixon, Jewel Cowart, R.C. Ratliff Junior and Shirley Conerly were arrested for the sale or transfer of a controlled substance.

Halls said more arrests are on the way.

Two Jones County residents are also behind bars on drug charges.

Rhonda Russell, 37, and Steven Corley, 20, were arrested in Ellisville on methamphetamine charges.

Sheriff Alex Hodge said Russell was found barricaded inside an outbuilding where methamphetamines were being manufactured. Corley was arrested inside his home.

Authorities said they seized an undetermined amount of methamphetamine, a large amount of U.S. currency, surveillance equipment and several firearms.

Both are in Jones County Jail awaiting bond.
