Barbour outlines issues ahead in 2009

Governor Haley Barbour is outlining his agenda for the legislative session that begins today (Friday).

Beginning his sixth year as governor, Barbour said some of the biggest issues he will tackle in 2009 deal with the ongoing recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

He will seek more federal money to restore the Barrier Islands off the coast, and try again to enact a hospital tax to help pay for Medicaid.

Barbour said he is urging lawmakers to be cautious with state spending during these uncertain economic times.
