Two-year-old struck by car in Hattiesburg

A 2-year-old Hattiesburg toddler is clinging to life after wandering off from his home and being hit by a car.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of West Pine and Scooba Street the toddler apparently wandered off from his home about a block away and was walking along West Pine when he was struck by a car, police said.

The child was airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson where he was reported to be in critical condition.

Police questioned the driver of the car, but said no charges are expected to be filed.
