Viewpoint: South Mississippi Goes Bowling

We’d like to extend our congratulations to the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagle Football team under the leadership of first year head coach Larry Fedora.  Once again they are going to a post season bowl as they take on Troy this Sunday in the New Orleans Bowl. Even though it was something of a roller coaster season, the wide-open offense introduced by coach Fedora made for plenty of excitement.  For the seniors this will be their last opportunity to take the field for the Golden Eagles and we thank them for their dedication and effort.

We urge as many as possible to make the short drive to the Super Dome and support Southern Miss as they close out their 2008 season on what we surely hope will be a positive note.  I’m Jim Cameron…drop us a line and let us know what’s on your mind.

The Mississippi All-Stars wrapped up its third practice at Hattiesburg High school ahead of the 31st Mississippi/Alabama All-star game on Saturday at noon. Although Saturday’s contest at Southern Miss’ M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg is just an exhibition, the Mississippi players are taking it seriously.
