Ole Miss basketball coach charged with simple assault

An Ole Miss basketball coach has been arrested and charged with simple assault after allegedly using racial slurs toward a Cincinnati cab driver.

Andy Kennedy, 40, was in Cincinnati where Ole Miss was playing Louisville in a regular season tournament Thursday. He coached the team following the incident.

According to the driver, Mohammed Jiddou, Kennedy and four others got into his cab and  Kennedy started calling him Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, and then punched him and got out of the cab.
According to Kennedy's brother, the coach said the cab driver used a racial slur when referring to one of the black coaches, and then Kennedy got out. The cab took off with the other four inside, stopping about 100 feet down the road, he said.

Ole Miss officials said they were confident Kennedy would be cleared of all charges.
