Hattiesburg Police have taken a subject into custody in connection with an armed robbery.
At 10:30 a.m. a black male entered a Doller General Store along Hardy Street brandishing a "long barreled" firearm and demanding cash, according to an employee.
Hattiesburg police responded to 1900 block location shortly after the assailant took the cash drawer and fled. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect enter an unoccupied, green pickup truck and drive north on 20th Avenue.
Witnesses were able to provide authorities with tag information for the vehicle and described the driver as having a slim build, wearing blue jeans and a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt.
A University of Southern Mississippi Police Officer assisted with the investigation and located the abandoned vehicle near 4th Street and 24th Avenue.
Hattiesburg Officers responded to the area and located a 17-year-old juvenile male fitting the suspect's description walking near the area of 4th Street and Stadium Drive. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Hattiesburg Police Department for questioning.
No charges have been pressed as of yet. Hattiesburg Police are not looking for other suspects at this time. No one was injured during the incident.
