NAACP conducting investigation of teen's death

The NAACP is conducting its own investigation into the death of a George County High School student.

Billy Joe Johnson, 1

7, apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in eary December after being stopped in his car by a deputy sheriff.

Authorities have not said whether the shooting was accidental or a suicide. But the NAACP said it has ruled out suicide and has hired an independent pathologist to conduct a second autopsy.

Meanwhile, District Attorney Tony Lawrence met with Johnson family members Monday.

More to come as the story develops.
