LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A jury in Lafayette, after brief
deliberations, found former television sports reporter and radio
talk-show host Vince Marinello guilty of murdering his estranged
The 71-year-old Marinello was on trial for the murder of Liz
Marinello, who was gunned down on Aug. 31, 2006. The jury
deliberated about an hour, following a 12-day trial that included
testimony from Marinello.
He will receive a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
The jury got the case Saturday after closing arguments and final
instructions from the judge.
Prosecutors contended Marinello planned the homicide well in
advance, allegedly donning a disguise on the day of the shooting
that included a fake beard and mustache.
