Laurel teen arrested for alleged shooting incident

A Laurel teen is behind on aggravated assault charges for shooting a man in the leg, but the victim says police arrested the wrong man.

Gregory Nix, 16, was arrested in connection with a late night shooting in South Park Village in Laurel Monday night.

Police said, according to witnesses earlier in the evening, three young men were in an altercation that led to a shooting. Nix allegedly shot Michael Abby in the leg. Abby was taken to South Central Regional Medical Center and released.

Abby said Nix is not responsible.

Police said they are still in the earlier stages of the investigation and more arrests could be possible.
