Petal official suspended pending sexual battery investigation
Darrin Carroll has been suspended with pay from his duties as Petal's building official.
The suspension comes as Carroll is being questioned on allegations involving a 17-year-old female. Petal Police said they are conducting a full investigation.
The board of aldermen is expected to vote to suspend Carroll without pay at their regular meeting Tuesday night.
Sergeant Gavin Guy with the Petal Police Department said Carroll is being investigated for an alleged sexual battery. Mayor Carl Scott said it is standard procedure to suspend a city employee while they are involved in a criminal investigation.
