Charges to be filed in connection with murder of Laurel teacher

Laurel Police say capital murder charges will be filed Tuesday against a man and woman in connection with Sunday’s murder of Laurel School Teacher Rebecca Pruitt.

The 29-year-old second grade teacher at Mason Elementary School was found dead in her laurel home Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say her killers tried to burn down her house to hide the fact Pruitt was murdered.

Police will not identify the two suspects in custody.

Authorities say they have recovered the victim’s missing car behind a residence near the Jones Covington County line.
