A Bassfield retail store was robbed at gunpoint Halloween night just a short distance from where hundreds of people were gathered for a high school football game. Bassfield police say the Dollar General Store on Highway 42 was held-up during the Bassfield-West Marion football game around 8:15 p.m.
No one was injured.
Police say a stocky-built, black male suspect used a handgun to force a clerk to give him cash from a register. He then quickly left the area.
The suspect was wearing baggy jeans and a black fleece pullover sweater. He also wore a black scarf around his face.
If you have any information about the robbery, call Jeff Davis County Crimestoppers at (601) 792-5169.
