2 Toyota Tsusho facilities opening in Mississippi

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Officials say Toyota Tsusho America, Inc.,

will locate two operations in northeast Mississippi to supply the

Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant now under construction.

Tsusho, a member of the Toyota Group of companies plans to open

a joint venture steel processing facility on the Toyota site at

Blue Springs.

Gov. Haley Barbour said in a statement a second Toyota Tsusho

plant across U.S. 78 will provide tire-and-wheel assembly.

The $1.3 billion Toyota vehicle plant will begin building the

hybrid-electric Prius in 2010.

Reports about a new supplier surfaced earlier this year when

Aberdeen-based Eutaw Construction began clearing a 30-acre site

just east of the main plant site.

Company officials estimate the two operations together could

employ up to 70 people. The vehicle plant itself is expected to

employ 2,000-3,000 people initially.
