JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The military says a 23-year-old soldier from Mississippi has been killed in Iraq.
The Department of Defense said Thursday that Pfc. Christopher A. McCraw of Columbia died Tuesday in Baghdad when he encountered small arms fire while on patrol.
At least 67 people from Mississippi or with strong ties to the state have died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
McCraw was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
