Laurel students to make up time lost during Gustav

Hurricane Gustav is fading into memory, but the effects of the storm are still lingering.

Starting Oct. 14, the Laurel School District will start classes 15 minutes early and close 15 minutes late for two weeks. Officials say by extending school hours for two weeks they wll make up the time lost during the storm.

Superintendent Glenn McGee said a letter detailing the plan has been sent out to parents.

Regular school hours resume the first Monday in November.
