A $16 million business is coming to Laurel.

The city ouncil voted unanimously Wednesday to allow Hydro-Dec American to build a plant in the industrial park. Officials said the plant will employ anywhere from 40 to 70 people. Mayor Melvin Mack said with so many people being unemployed in the area, this is exactly what the city needs.

"I think it's a good thing," said Mack. "This company is not costing us anything, it's just generating revenue for the city, and what they do is refurbish transformer oil 100 percent to make it re-usable. I think it's a real good deal."
