A Hattiesburg man has been arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of a 2-vehicle accident that critically injured a motorcyclist. 27-year-old Sammy Lindsey was arrested early Saturday morning, shortly after his car was involved in a wreck with a motorcycle on Highway 49 near the Red Carpet Inn.
Officers say after the 2 vehicles collided, Lindsey ran from the scene into the Red Carpet Inn, leaving a female passenger inside the car. Police found Lindsey inside the hotel a short time later and took him into custody.
He faces one count of felony leaving the scene of an accident.
And Hattiesburg police have arrested a Tennessee man who is a suspect in a string of auto burglaries that happened last weekend. In custody is 39-year-old Reginald Gant of Memphis.
He was picked up late Friday night after his silver Dodge truck was pulled over on Highway 49 by Forrest County deputies. They had suspected Gant's vehicle was the same truck seen in a Crimestoppers video 7 On Your Side aired on Wednesday night.
Police said the driver of that truck could have been involved with several auto burglaries last Saturday.
So far, Gant has been charged with one count of auto burglary.
