Immigrant rights group obtains paychecks from Howard Industries

The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance has obtained outstanding paychecks for a number of the suspected illegal immigrants arrested during last month's raid at Howard Industries.

Representatives from MIRA met with the Howard Industries personnel department Monday evening and presented about 500 names they believed were owed money for work done leading up to the August 25 raid.

Howard Industries handed over paychecks for nearly 300 names they were able to verify. MIRA officials said they will distribute the checks as early as today (Tuesday).
