HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - A Desoto County man has been convicted of
statutory rape in a case involving a 12-year-old girl.
Tommy Terrell Harden was found guilty after more than two days
of testimony and two hours of deliberation. The 36-year-old man has
been scheduled for sentencing in DeSoto County Circuit Court on
November 10. He was found guilty on Thursday.
Harden could receive a sentence of up to 20 years or life in
Prosecutor Susan Brewer says the victim told authorities that
Harden had begun "touching" her months before the rape and a
physical exam showed she had suffered injuries between August and
December of 2006.
