Suspects being sought in kidnapping/assault

A 31-year-old Hattiesburg man is in the hospital tonight, recovering from injuries he received after he was kidnapped and assaulted late Friday night.  The victim tells authorities he was abducted by several suspects from the Shears Road area in west Hattiesburg around 10:30 p.m. and was driven to another county, where he was beaten.

Several hours later on the way back to Hattiesburg on Interstate 59, the victim says he escaped and phoned for help after the suspects' vehicle caught fire when it blew a tire.  Sheriff Danny Rigel tells us the victim is recovering from face and upper body injuries.

He also says the victim and suspects knew each other.  So far, there is no motive and no arrests have been made.
