Actor Danny Glover made a special visit to Hattiesburg Thursday.
Glover joined The University of Southern Mississippi Center for Black Studies as it commemorated its first year of service to the campus. Glover said the black studies department is not a warehouse of material but a gateway through the black community."As often as any studies in history is reflected in people and identity, not only the full sense of that identity in relations to what is happening in the rest of the world," said Glover. Glover started the nation's first black studies department at San Francisco State in 1968.
