Hundreds wait in line for jobs at Howard Industries

Howard Industries in Laurel was invaded again Wednesday, not by federal agents rounding up illegal immigrants, but by Americans looking for work.

Hundreds of unemployed people swarmed in front of the business Wednesday morning, many saying once they heard about Monday's raid they heard opportunity knocking.

One of Howard Industries' switch board operators said they received over 5,000 calls about employment the day after the raid. Since then, the application line has been long, and some unemployed Mississippians are hoping to fill jobs once occupied by illegal aliens.
