Group to narrow list for MSU presidency

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A committee will meet this week to

recommend candidates to become the next president of Mississippi

State University.

The 27-member panel of university employees and school

supporters will bring forward at least five prospects for the state

College Board to interview during the next two months.

The 12-member College Board plans to appoint the next MSU

president by the end of October.

The advisory committee will privately meet Thursday on the

Mississippi State campus in Starkville. The College Board does not

release names of people being considered to lead any of

Mississippi's public universities.
