NAACP asks feds to investigate Moss Point police

MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - The Jackson County NAACP is asking the

FBI to look into complaints about possible police misconduct in

Moss Point.

The request comes days after city leaders said they would not

reinstate a citizen-review board to oversee Moss Point police

officers and other city employees.

Mayor Xavier Bishop and Police Chief Sheila Smallman said they

would welcome an independent investigation by federal authorities.

Smallman said she has found no evidence of any wrongdoing by police

Local NAACP president Curley Clark says city officials have

"turned deaf ears" to requests for more oversight of police.
