Area banks institute dress codes for customers

The next time you head to the bank you might want to watch what you wear.

Several banks in South Mississippi are mandating a security measure requiring customers to remove sunglasses, hats and hoods.

This rule comes as the number of bank robberies is going up.

Paul Maxwell, vice president and corporate communications manager of Hancock Bank, said bank robberies dropped significantly in states where bankers associations have rules requiring those who enter banks from covering their heads and eyes.

The security measures start Friday.
