Forrest County School buses may change routes

Forrest County Schools begin classes on Friday, and some children who ride buses might see a new route.

The school board received a report saying seven bridges were deficient. All of the bridges had a low weight limit compared to the size of the buses.

Officials said the change in routes should not greatly affect the timing or distance. Ten buses will be affected by this change.

"It was a concern that I didn't know about it last year," said Transportation Director Vivian Lindon. "But, now that I do we can face that and get it fixed, and they've assured me that these seven bridges are on the top of their priority list."

The school district will run 36 school buses this school year.
