The United Way kicked off their annual Pacesetters fundraising campaign Thursday in Hattiesburg. The Pacesetters includes 12 organizations that hold their giving campaign a month earlier than the United Way's overall fundraiser. Hattiesburg's Superintendent and Pacesetter Chairperson Annie Wimbish said all 12 organizations have committed themselves to raising funds for the United Way and their 21 partner agencies. "They do the same things that all of the other agencies do as far as raising funds to support the community, but they just get a head start," said Wimbish. "They do their fundraising earlier than others." The United Way's overall campaign gets underway September 4 at Hattiesburg's Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center.
