Laurel Public Works goes to four-day work week

The Laurel Public Works department will be going to a four day work week beginning August 4.

City officials said because of increased fuel charges and operational costs, residential garbage pickup will be cut.

Residents who have a Monday and Thursday pickup will now have a Monday pickup only. Tuesday and Friday customers will have a Tuesday only pickup.

Commercial and household trash pickup will also see a slight change. Instead of Wednesday pickup, the new plan will rotate from ward to ward Monday through Thursday.

Residents must call 428-6455 to schedule a pickup.
