President George Bush visited Mississippi Tuesday to help raise money for a congressional candidate.
The president led a closed fundraiser in Jackson for Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, the former congressman appointed to fill the seat vacated by Trent Lott.
Wicker faces Democrat Ronnie Musgrove in the November general election. Both want to fill the remaining four years of Lott's term. About 500 people attended the $1,000-a-plate fundraiser.
The luncheon was closed to the public.
