Three Arrested for Hattiesburg Homicide

Three Picayune men are behind bars at the Forrest County Jail charged in connection with the shooting death of Larry Blakely, 22, who was shot and killed at his Kimball street home Monday afternoon.

Jerry Jones Jr., 23, Dwayne Bester, 23, are charged with murder. While Justin Nixon, 20, is charged with accessory after the fact.

Both Jones and Nixon were discovered at their place of residence in Picayune along with the suspect's vehicle, a 1999 black Chevy pickup. Police officials say they have not identified who pulled the trigger and have yet to identify a motive for the crime.

"At this time we are still not sure what all incidences led up to the shooting itself," said Hattiesburg Police Spokesperson Synarus Green.  "As far as how we were able to locate the suspects, officers worked tirelessly through the night, almost non stop pulling together several leads. It was the combination of all those leads that led us to Picayune and the location of these suspects."

Police officials said they are still investigating whether anyone else was involved in the shooting. They ask that anyone who has any information on the shooting to contact the Hattiesburg police at 544-7900 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 582-STOP.
